How Food Banks Benefit from Partnerships

How Food Banks Benefit from Partnerships

How might your organization benefit?

As a food bank, food pantry, or food council, your mission likely involves reducing food insecurity or hunger and increasing access to healthy food. You probably ramped up during the pandemic and are still waiting for the need to decrease. You have likely already squeezed out every bit of efficiency in your operations with today’s tools.

But what if you could add a tool that, within three short months, can maximize the data collected in your various systems and communicate it effectively to stakeholders? Have you considered a partnership with Datatelligent and Tableau?

Datatelligent is a data analytics company that partners with nonprofit organizations to organize existing data. Conversely, Tableau is a leading data visualization tool that can transform complex data into easily understandable and actionable insights. Food banks, food pantries, food councils, and their human service partners have worked with us in many ways.

Data analysis and visualization

Organizations often input information about donors, volunteers, food types, needs, geography, expenses, and more into various software systems. Datatelligent pulls data from disparate systems and layers on Tableau’s data visualization tools. We transform this data into dashboards where various staff leaders can answer questions and make data-driven decisions through self-service.

Streamlined operations

Datatelligent can combine data sets that previously lived in data silos or even simple spreadsheets. Using data analytics, Food Banks and Pantries may identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in their processes. With info from across their service area, Food Councils can visualize the trends in needs, resources, and gaps in the overall food assistance ecosystem. With the help of Datatelligent and Tableau, they can implement changes to streamline their operations, improve efficiency, and ultimately serve more people in need.

Improved fundraising and communications

How do you prove you are making a difference? Data analytics can help you identify donation trends, understand your donor base, and target communications. More importantly, effective use of data can help justify sustained or increased funding—especially when it illustrates how the services provided meet the need or highlights precisely who is most in need. Datatelligent and Tableau equip organizations with strategies that are more likely to resonate with donors and result in increased funding.

Contact us to learn how your Food Bank, Food Pantry, or Food Council can work with us. Tell the story of your food ecosystem and your organization’s impact. Consider partnering with Datatelligent and Tableau to take your organization to the next level.

Religious Organizations Embrace Technology and Data Post Pandemic

Religious Organizations Embrace Technology and Data Post Pandemic

Faith-based organizations, like many other institutions, are increasingly relying on technology to accomplish their goals. From online worship services to digital giving platforms, thriving congregations and ministries have been quick to adopt new technologies to meet the needs of their communities.

The pandemic spurred changes in attendance from online and outside service attendance in the spring of 2020 to a hybrid of in-person and online attendance in 2022. The Pew Research Center documented the changes through five surveys between July 2020 through November 2022. Virtual viewing of services online or on TV increased, in-person attendance declined, and overall participation remained nearly steady with a slight decline since the pandemic.[1]

While attendance may have been tracked by religious organizations before, deeper analysis can help leaders understand which programs are most popular—whether in-person or virtual–and for whom. Virtual attendance creates opportunities and challenges to meet a new definition of the sense of “community” religious institutions seek to create. Heidi Campbell, professor of communication at Texas A&M University, stated, “Digital technology in the church and in ministry is here to stay. And our future is definitely hybrid.”[2]

One of the most significant changes that religious organizations have experienced in recent years is the integration of data into their operations. The Pew Research confirms what congregations may observe anecdotally in the demographic differences of attendees by participation type. By using data analysis tools, congregations, and ministries are gaining insights into their members’ needs and preferences, which allows them to better tailor their programs and services.

Faith-based organizations are also turning to social media and technology to improve their outreach efforts. By engaging with their communities on social media, organizations can spread their message to a wider audience and engage with individuals who may not be able to attend in-person events or who joined the virtual religious community. They can use social media analytics to understand which posts are most effective and how to better engage with their followers. Others are using virtual reality technology to give members a virtual tour of their facilities or to provide a more immersive worship experience.

It’s important to note that while technology can certainly be a valuable tool for faith-based organizations, it is not a replacement for the personal connections and relationships that are at the heart of congregations and ministries. However, by embracing new technologies and integrating data into their operations, religious-based organizations can better understand and meet the needs of their communities.

4 Key Differences of Datatelligent’s Subscription-based Approach to Data Analytics

4 Key Differences of Datatelligent's Subscription-based Approach to Data Analytics

Are you looking for a new and different approach to data analytics?

Datatelligent provides a more flexible and cost-effective way for organizations to access the data and insights needed to make better business decisions. Our subscription-based approach to data analytics is different from traditional, one-time purchase software licensing models.

Below are four key differences of our data analytics subscription.

  1. Scalability: Our subscription-based DAaaS services are designed to be easily scalable, allowing organizations to adjust the size and scope of their analytics needs as their business needs change. This can help ensure that organizations have access to the right data and tools at the right time without incurring additional costs for unnecessary capacity.
  2. Updates and Maintenance: Our subscription-based service include regular updates and maintenance, ensuring that the data analytics tools and technologies remain up-to-date and functional. This can help organizations avoid the cost and hassle of maintaining their on-premise infrastructure and ensure they always have access to the latest analytics capabilities.
  3. Access to Expertise: By partnering with Datatelligent, organizations gain access to a team of data analytic experts, and our Data Literacy subscription helps organizations improve their data literacy.
  4. Cost Structure: A subscription-based approach typically involves paying a recurring fee over a set period of time (e.g., monthly, quarterly, or annually) rather than a considerable upfront cost. This can make data analytics more accessible to organizations with limited budgets and allows for better cost management and planning.

Feeding Westchester and Datatelligent Collaborate to Enhance Community Outreach Efforts

Feeding Westchester and Datatelligent Collaborate to Enhance Community Outreach Efforts

Connecting Donors, Volunteers, and the Community to Provide Data-Driven Solutions to Food Security Issues

GLEN ELLYN, Ill., December 23, 2021 — Datatelligent, LLC (www.datatelligent.ai) today announced it has been selected by Feeding Westchester to create a dynamic data analytics solution that will enhance staff efficiency and improve collaboration with volunteers, donors, and board members. Drawing upon its extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, Datatelligent’s team will build a Unified Data Platform to collect, clean, and organize data from sources throughout the Feeding Westchester organization, providing staff with timely and accurate data — efficiently and easier than their current approach.

Feeding Westchester, based in Elmsford, New York, is Westchester County’s largest nonprofit hunger-relief organization, and in 2020, provided more than 18 million meals to people in need. It does an exemplary job serving its community and galvanizing volunteers and donors, and its leadership team recognized that staff could further enhance operations and outreach with a more robust, turnkey solution to collect, analyze and report data. Consequently, Datatelligent has been engaged to reimagine Feeding Westchester’s data analytics structure and build a platform using Snowflake to standardize data collection and reporting, integrate disparate information, create highly visual reports, and enhance collaboration throughout the organization.

Using Datatelligent’s Data Analytics as a Service (DAaaS) offering, Datatelligent staff are building a solution to collect, track and report data as it relates to food donations and distributions, fundraising, and volunteer activities. The platform will provide Feeding Westchester with up-to-date, easy to interpret data, speeding access to accurate information, decreasing staff time spent compiling reports, and improving timely decision-making efforts.

Additionally, the solution will tap into Datatelligent’s expert knowledge of Snowflake’s data cloud to centralize data storage which will allow Feeding Westchester staff to create highly visual reports enhancing understanding of disparate information.

“We are thrilled to be working with an organization that is doing so much good in its community, especially as the ongoing effects of the Covid pandemic continue to create challenges and need. We look forward to creating an innovative solution in support of Feeding Westchester’s mission,” said Larry Blackburn, Chief Data Transformation Officer, Datatelligent.

Indianapolis Community Food Access Coalition Selects Datatelligent to Build Data Analytics Dashboard

Partnership Harnesses Data to Help Meet Food Access Needs in Indianapolis

(GLEN ELLYN, IL, JANUARY 20, 2022) — Datatelligent, a data, analytics and AI solutions firm focused on helping higher education institutions, not-for-profits and small to mid-sized (SMB) firms manage their data, has been selected by the Indianapolis Food Council to create a comprehensive data analytics solution that will help provide equitable access to food, improve staff efficiency, and analyze program efficacy. Datatelligent staff, drawing upon their extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, will work collaboratively with the Indianapolis Community Food Access Coalition (ICFAC) staff to integrate data sources and provide staff with access to accurate and up-to-date analytics.

“We’re proud to be working with a group that is making a valuable impact in their community. We look forward to helping the ICFAC work more efficiently and knowledgeably in support of their mission,” said Larry Blackburn, Chief Solutions Officer, Datatelligent.

Datatelligent’s team has been engaged to develop a data analytics dashboard using Tableau. For example, ICFAC staff will utilize the dashboard to review the performance of programs implemented in collaboration with Lyft. Using metrics tied to transportation to and from grocery stores, ridership demographics, destinations, and other markers, staff will have the information needed to determine program impact and make improvements for the future. This solution will integrate and cleanse data flowing in from both internal and external sources and will allow staff self-service access to timely information. The dashboard will free up valuable team resources by automating data collection and reporting efforts, speeding access to accurate information, and improving their ability to assess program impact and success.
